Snapshot
Started in 1982, LIFT-UP is the leader in providing equitable food security for individuals and families: educating, building understanding, and support to end hunger from Parachute to Aspen, Colorado.
Organization Overview

LIFT-UP believes that access to fresh, healthy, and sustainable food provides hope and empowerment, strengthening the health of our community while supporting Colorado agriculture and reducing our carbon footprint.

LIFT-UP serves Garfield, Eagle, and Pitkin Counties along the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado’s Western Slope and provides the following services to folks experiencing food scarcity and insecurity:

  • Farm 2 Food Pantry program – Guaranteed, pre-paid contracts with twenty-three local farmers and ranchers to provide our guests with fresh produce, meat, dairy, and eggs. The program comprised 63% of our food budget purchases in 2022 and will continue in 2023.
  • Six Fixed Food Pantries in Parachute, Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, and Aspen. Each pantry is stocked with a variety of quality food choices that includes fresh produce, a variety of meat and dairy selections, and shelf-stable staples like rice and pasta.
  • Nine Drive-Thru grocery distribution locations in Parachute, Rifle, Silt, New Castle, Glenwood Springs (2), Carbondale, El Jebel, and Snowmass. For drive-thru distribution, LIFT-UP loads its truck with pre-packed grocery bags full of healthy foods, including meat, fruits, vegetables, dairy, bread, and ingredients for simple meals. LIFT-UP volunteers place the grocery bags in our guests' trunks as our guests drive through the location.
  • Two Extended Table soup kitchens in Glenwood Springs and Rifle where hot meals are served daily.
  • Meal Monkey is a free lunch program for kids 0 to 18 years. Through Meal Monkey, we distribute a healthy sack lunch weekly. Meal Monkey and Totes for Hope will become Food 4 Kids in 2023.
  • LIFT-UP partners with local hospitals, clinics, and school resource programs to provide 72–Hour Emergency Food Bags for those without cooking facilities.
  • Senior Commodities Everyday Eats – Food boxes for seniors include fresh produce.
  • TEFAP - The Emergency Food Assistance Program is a federal program that supplements the diets of low-income people by providing them with emergency food.
  • LIFT-UP also operates a thrift shop in Rifle, extending our mission and providing earned revenue.
