Elemental is a non-profit climate investor and impact organization.
We have over a decade of experience investing in innovative climate technologies across the climate spectrum with an emphasis on strategy and first of a kind projects.
Very early, the team identified a funding gap for deploying technologies after the initial launch and began to focus here.
In the past decade +, we
Invested in over 130 portfolio companies via our accelerator program
celebrated more than 20 exits
and are now seeking applications for our 11th cohort.
SOME of the companies in our portfolio you might know are BlocPower and Thrilling, coincidentally just named Fast Co’s most innovative companies list.
As we see again and again over 100 project deployments, technology cannot be implemented in a vacuum.
A few years ago, we developed an Equity and Access framework to help support portfolio companies advance equity in their work: both internally at the company level, what we call Equity In & and externally in the community, what we call Equity Out.
We encourage portfolio companies as part of their scope, to include leadership from community groups to engage or partner with - like with a company installing solar in apartment buildings partnering with a community housing association to better grasp the concerns of the residents, or a water treatment company partnering with the local water non-profit to help reachcommunities most impacted by lack of access to clean water.
