LANI partners with residents, businesses, community groups, and local leaders to create walkable, green, safe neighborhoods with equitable access to resources, open spaces, public transit, and economic opportunity.
Understanding that community members know the needs of their neighborhoods best, LANI empowers local stakeholders to take an active role in planning and building improvements that expand public safety, enhance health and the environment, spur economic development, and foster local pride.
LANI envisions urban spaces where, regardless of location or population, every neighborhood is a vibrant, functional, and healthy place cultivated by engaged community members.
Founded in 1994, LANI has helped revitalize more than 45 low and mixed-income neighborhoods in Los Angeles County. We work with communities to plan and implement projects like new parks and open spaces, business façade improvements, street tree plantings and sidewalk repairs, public art and placemaking, and transportation enhancements like crosswalks, bike lanes, lighting, bus shelters, and transit plazas.
The hallmark of LANI's program is our combination of expert project management with deep community outreach that empowers local stakeholders and generates substantive communal decision-making.
We focus on educating stakeholders so that together we can efficiently balance varying interests with on-the-ground realities, political considerations, and constraints such as timeline and budget, resulting in completed projects with high levels of community support and satisfaction.
