Resumen de la Organización

FreeWire Technologies (“FreeWire”) manufactures and sells a line of battery-integrated direct current fast chargers (“DCFC”) under the name “Boost” and an accompanying charger and energy management system Asset Management Platform (“AMP”). Each Boost contains a 160 kWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system (“BESS”) and two ultrafast charging ports (available in CCS or CHADeMO). The battery-integrated design allows for significant flexibility in citing and minimizes (or in some cases even eliminates) common grid upgrades required by traditional DCFC. The current generation of hardware is known as the Boost Charger 200 and is capable of up to 200 kW of output capacity while only requiring a 27 kW grid connection at either 3-phase 208V/80A or single-phase/split-phase 240V/120A service. The Boost can even operate at a lower input power (e.g., 40 amps) for both voltages and still provide up to 200 kW of output power. It is capable of charging one EV at 200 kW or two EVs simultaneously at up to 100 kW each. In addition, the Boost allows charging at an expanded voltage range, from 200-1000 V.

Boost has been deployed in the US, Canada, Belgium, Spain, and Japan, and is planned for deployment in Australia, New Zealand, and other EU countries by the end of 2023. The Boost enables five key values to the site owner:

  1. Industry's smallest “total” deployed footprint – The 160 kWh BESS-integrated Boost does not require additional hardware to support up to 200 kW fast charging. The unit typically is deployed between two parking stalls and maximizes space with an ability to charge one EV at up to 200 kW or two EVs simultaneously at up to 100 kW each via dual ports.
  2. Industry leading low CAPEX & rapid deployment – The Boost connects to onsite 208v or 240v electrical infrastructure enabling fast deployment while eliminating the “sunk” cost of other hardware (transformers, battery packs, electrical cabinets, etc.). This deployment model enables cost effective total cost of ownership (TCO) when considering all aspects of a DCFC deployment.
  3. Predictable OPEX – The Boost leverages an integrated 160 kWh battery cube that provides energy to charge +20 EVs per day while pulling a maximum of 27 kW from the utility grid - thereby reducing peak energy and demand charges.
  4. Customer Experience Management – FreeWire offers co-branding on the Boost and enables our partners to leverage the platform's 24-inch, ADA compliant, high-resolution LED touchscreen. The Boost is designed to enable the site owner personalized customer engagement and management via branding, on screen advertisements, and integration of loyalty programs driving opportunities for increased revenue per customer.
  5. Smart Charging – Boost Charger has the capability to modulate the input power pulled from the grid. This enables the charger to avoid pulling power during peak hours when utility power is more expensive and recharge during off-peak hours when it is less expensive.

The Boost Charger 200 is a future-proofed energy platform that can be easily relocated and designed to support a variety of energy services including grid-down EV charging, demand response, and b-directional charger-to-everything functionality. This approach provides opportunities to maximize the value of the Boost asset through increased revenue streams and product useful life.
