Descripción

The purpose of this solicitation is to award grants to fund projects focused on geothermal energy and lithium recovery from geothermal brine that support local jurisdictions and private entities to advance the geothermal sector and related activities per Public Resource Code (PRC) Sections 3800-3827 and California Code of Regulations (CCR) Sections 1660-1665. 
Under no circumstances will loans be issued under this solicitation. 

  • Phase One: $100,000

  • Phase Two: $5,700,000

  • Eligible Applicants for Phase One: Local Jurisdictions and California Native American tribes

PREVIOUSLY:  This funding opportunity aims to support projects centered on geothermal energy and lithium recovery from geothermal brine in alignment with California Public Resources Code 3800 et seq. The solicitation is designed to empower local jurisdictions and private entities in propelling the geothermal sector forward, aligning with the objectives of the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) Integrated Resources Plan (IRP), Senate Bill 100 (SB 100, De Leon, Chapter 312, Statutes of 2018), Assembly Bill 32 (AB 32, Nunez, Chapter 488, Statutes of 2006), and SB 32 (Pavley, Chapter 249, Statutes of 2016). By funding projects that contribute to eligible renewable energy, zero-carbon energy, and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, this solicitation plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable energy practices and supporting California's legislative commitments.
