Alumina Energy was founded in 2015 with a mission to make low-cost and high performance energy storage readily available for renewable energy generation, conventional heat and power generation, and the grid.
The Company’s Packed-Bed Thermal Energy Storage (PBTES) technology developed by Dr. Reuel Shinnar, Dr. Hitesh Bindra, Dr. Ryan Anderson, Dr. Jeffery Morris, and Dr. Pablo Bueno at the City College of New York (CCNY) under a $1,327,000 Department of Energy grant.
The ability to address both electric and thermal energy markets with a high performance and low-cost energy storage solution differentiates our energy storage technology from other energy storage systems that only serve a limited number of markets and applications. The Company’s focus is the development of PBTES products which can be deployed in the thermal energy and electrical energy markets in the commercial, industrial, and utility sectors.
